 Carbide grit is an extremely hard material bonded to the tip/edge of a steel backing . It is commonly used on abrasive materials including fiberglass, plastics, ceramics and cast iron. 
 Gulleted edge blades are made of abrasive grains bonded to a gulleted (notched) steel backing. They are used for cutting titanium, graphite and other hard-to-cut materials.
